Editorial policy
We use primary sources for factual specifications and distinguish provider claims from our own observations. We publish firsthand findings only when that work has occurred. Commercial relationships do not determine factual labels, access to free tools or whether a useful noncommercial option is included. Readers may report errors through our corrections page. We recheck consequential changes before republishing.
Research labels
Desk-researched profile is the default label. A page adds a firsthand-experience section only when documented work exists. We do not switch a page to “tested and approved” because someone read customer reviews. Independent laboratory or clinical findings require their own appropriate source and interpretation.
Pages are editorial research, not professional or medical review.
Unknowns and attributed statements
Unknown factual values are shown as not verified, never as a confident yes or no. Manufacturer statements are quoted and attributed to the manufacturer, and we never infer that a product is fragrance-free because a search found nothing. A fragrance statement or ingredient list cannot guarantee individual tolerance.
Order and comparisons
Comparisons use declared criteria or alphabetical order. Commission cannot influence a factual label or an eligibility result. We do not award points, star ratings or a winner, and missing data is not treated as a defect.
From draft to published
Our content system records each page’s stage, from draft through source check and editorial review to approval. A change to a consequential fact moves the page back to review. We keep a revision history and an issue log, and a fact that appears in several places comes from one record rather than independently typed numbers.
Review intervals
Product formulations and commercial links have a 30-day review interval; evergreen guides have 90 days. A verification date changes only when a person rechecks the source. A link that still loads does not prove that its content is unchanged.
Corrections
For each reported error we record the page, issue, source, owner, resolution and date. A change to a central record updates every affected page. If an error could mislead a purchasing or professional decision, we pause the statement or link until it is verified. We publish a clear correction note when warranted and do not hide a substantive change behind an automatic updated date.
